SA国际传媒Releases 2023 Mid-Year Legislative Report
The first half of 2023 was another highly active period for addiction medicine policy at the state level. For the second year in a row, SA国际传媒has assembled a mid-year report to ensure that members are up to date on what took place in their states and nationwide. Like last year, the 2023 Mid-Year State Legislative Report is broken into two parts. One part includes an overview of general policy trends observed across states in 2023. The second part includes summaries of legislation enacted in each state through the end of June. Taken together, both parts of this report give members an opportunity to catch up on the state policy landscape as we head into the second half of this year.
Overall, there were 527 addiction medicine related bills that were introduced in 45 states since the start of 2023. For reference, there were 451 such bills introduced at this time last year. 13% of these bills were enacted as compared to 17% in 2022. In 2023, the top three policy areas of interest for state lawmakers were Naloxone Access, Harm Reduction, and Cannabis Reform. Last year the top areas of interest were Cannabis Reform, Harm Reduction, and Criminal Justice Reform/Access to Treatment. Further, SA国际传媒state chapter supported legislation was signed into law in Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, and Utah in the first half of 2023.
