Goal 1: Grow and Strengthen Involvement in Addiction Medicine

Strategy 1.1. Identify and develop diverse SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½membership and leadership

Strategy 1.2. Define and promote the value of addiction medicine and integrate it throughout systems of care

Strategy 1.3. Expand and foster the next generation of addiction medicine professionals

 

Goal 2: Expand Access to Addiction Medicine

Strategy 2.1. Advocate for comprehensive benefits coverage, improved reimbursement, and appropriate compensation for the full continuum of addiction care

Strategy 2.2. Support funding for research, education, and prevention â€‹

Strategy 2.3. Champion addiction medicine access for all​

Strategy 2.4.  Advocate for reducing criminal legal system interference with the delivery of addiction care

 

Goal 3: Set the Standards for High-Quality, Evidence-Based Addiction Care

Strategy 3.1. Partner with patients and stakeholders to ensure diversity of perspectives

Strategy 3.2. Establish addiction medicine clinical guidelines, standards, metrics; and identify evidence gaps

Strategy 3.3. Promote the implementation of SA¹ú¼Ê´«Ã½guidelines and standards across the entire healthcare continuum

 

Goal 4: Educate the Addiction Workforce and Patients​

Strategy 4.1. Develop and provide addiction medicine education for addiction specialists and the addiction care team​.

Strategy 4.2. Develop and provide addiction medicine education for other healthcare providers treating patients with addiction.

Strategy 4.3. Increase public awareness of the disease of addiction and the benefits of high-quality addiction care
